COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Explore the development of the Church after the death of the Apostles through the establishment of creeds and contrast the Catholic Church and Protestant church. The course will explore the birth of the Pentecostal movement and the foundational doctrines that it believes.  Church History is the prerequisite to this course.  

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

The course is designed to strengthen the students’ appreciation for the body of Christ and the challenges Christians have faced over the centuries. Students will gain insightful wisdom in church history by:

  • Examining the impact of Jewish, Greek and Roman culture upon the development of Christianity.
  • Understanding the Protestant Reformation
  • Reflecting the doctrines of the Pentecostal movement
  • Correlating historical events to the growth and development of the African American Church
